The 2011 Asian Winter Games from Kazakhstan in February saw some hard-fought alpine ski battles. In the end it was South Korean Slytech Athlete Jung Dong-hyun on top in men's super combined event.
Congratulations Jung Dong-hyun and our South Korean Slytech distributor Mr. Yong-Chul Kim of TOLES. The whole Slytech Team in Europe and the USA sends you big-up!
Rockin the Slytech Nerve Series 4Arm Guards and 2nd Skin Backpro Superlite, Ted Ligety skied to a Giant Slalom gold medal victory at  FIS World Championship's in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany on February 18th, 2011.
He came back from a  4th place the first run to win by  0.08 seconds. Ted is on top of his game now... check out his run down below.
So nonchalant, yet so on... you just got to love talent. Here we got Antti-Juhani Piirainen in the Pool.
Makes me think to strap on my 2nd Skin and try my hand at it (yeah right...). I'm probably past my prime for that, but for younger kids looking to go through hard knox and earn their mettle, it may not be a bad thing to strap on.
Slytech just came out of SIA in Denver with some great results: so many people were excited about the gear and new additions. Sales reps loved the new DuPont Zytel armguards and new Ted Ligety Pro Model Shin Guard. The new junior vest was super well received and many stores are already ordering product. We'll post the newest Slytech Innovations when they're available to be released.
Also, if you're looking for more Slytech in more stores, they're coming! So along with the online Slytech store, you'll be able to try 'em on at a local shop soon, scope 'em out and find your perfect size, etc...

FOR ANYONE ATTENDING ISPO IN MUNICH: on Feb 7th at 11:00AM at booth #116 in Hall A1, Ted Ligety will be there signing autographs.
I don't think there is any more needed evidence that Kitzbuehel is vicious. I'm not sure what Austrian Skier Has Grugger's status is (anybody know?), but not matter which way you look at it, this crash is bad: shattered skis, the thud, the full impact on the back... insane.
If indeed he is OK, which we are all praying for, a back protector most likely a big contributing factor to things not being worse.
This clip is not for the faint of heart. Don't watch if you can't handle.
Segye Newspaper of South Korea highlighted the Slytech Slammer Pro Back Protector Vest and the Slytech 2nd Skin Logo Back Protector in a piece that ran on their homepage in the last few days.
Anybody out there understand Korean? Give us a shout and let us know what they're saying.
Lisa Filzmoser, Austrian Slytech athlete, has a sweet part in an upcoming La Famiglia movie called "Never Get Older." Take a look and then go to the Euro Rider of the Year website (click on the image below) to vote for her as "Best Female Video Part of the Year" in section 3 on the right.
I don't know about you, but I only wish I could shred like her...

This was a sweet weekend of World Cup Ski action with the women up in Zauchensee, Austria and the men in Adelboden, Switzerland.
A lot of Slytech Nervous Shin and Forearm Guards were out in Adelboden with the men shredding the giant slalom and slalom tech events. Gates slappin' and men tumbling... Adelboden is one of the toughest hills on the tour. A real grind.
Saturday's mens giant slalom saw Ted missing his 4th victory in a row with an unfortunate second run hiccup that sent him flying. Back protector on, 4 Arm guards in place, Ted finished 28th. Swiss Slytech man, Marc Berthod finished an impressive 7th place while his iron man team mate (you may recall his near fatal crash in Kitzbuehel a few years ago) Daniel Albrecht finished 29th.
Sunday's Slalom results:
10th Silvan Zurbriggen
19th Filip Trejbal
21st Marc Berthod
24th Will Brandenburg

The women were out in Altenmarkt/ Zauchensee, Austria where they battled in downhill and super g. While not wearing her customary Nervous Shin Guards for speed events (obviously), Lindsey Vonn once again showed her dominance in downhill with a victory. Other top finishing Slytech athletes were:
7th Gisin Dominique
11th Nadia Kamer
12th Fabienne Suter
Sunday's Super G was almost a repeat for Vonn, when out of nowhere a little Swiss Shredette (who also wears Sltyech Nervous Shin and Arm Guards) took first place. What an upset! A lot of Slytech ladies in the bunch:
3rd Dominique Gisin
11th Nadia Kamer
23rd Laurenne Ross
24th Andrea Dettling
32nd Leanne Smith
... and if I'm not mistaken, there was an AUSTRIAN ski racer in the bunch who I swear I saw wearing Slytech Nervous 4Arm Guards in the Super G. If my memory serves me correctly it was Margret Altacher, but I'm not 100% sure. Anyone out there see which Austrian wore Slytech?
Check out tomorrow's Women's night slalom event from Flachau, Austria when Resi Stiegler enters the mix again and Sarah Schlepper looks to keep her red hot skiing going. Next weekend's action comes from Wengen, Switzerland where the men duke it out in Downhill and Super Combined. Women head out to Maribor, Slovenia where it's been a slalom and giant slalom slush-fest the past few years. Should be interesting!
Every fresh year, new year's resolutions are made. There's the usual health related ones, like: Â "I want to lose 5 or 10 pounds" or "I want to stop smoking."
But most of us who have an action sport as a passion or obsession don't typically have to deal with weight issues or huge negative lifestyle related ailments. Whether your passion is in the surf, on the motocross track or in the snow, what we're probably resolving to do this year is a new trick, move or gain more consistency.
There's nothing like nailing that move you're been trying what seems like forever. Hundreds and hundreds of attempts, bumps, bruises, blood, sweat, heaven-forbid concussions later, you launch and shut your eyes -- bracing for what is certain to be another shellacking -- only to find that you're still upright!
This is me eating it on my 473rd backloop attempt on Maui.
Freakin stoke.
For those of us who are able to escape injury during those hundred attempts can consider ourselves extremely lucky. The chances of mild to severe injury at our contact action sports (especially of the land variety) are quite significant. Significant that is if we're not protecting ourselves adequately.
Going for your goals, resolutions and dreams is what advances our lives, moves us forward, and ultimately makes us happy. It's important to consider though, that if we're sidelined with an action sports related injury, that advancement in our sport -- whether snowboarding, skiing, motocross, mountain biking, whatever -- stops for a while. Stay protected and shred on.
Have a healthy and happy start to the New Year and see you out on the mountain...
